Traffic Court Records in Wilbarger County
The court named on the ticket keeps the record. Wilbarger County has two justice courts. Each handles fine-only Class C traffic matters inside its own precinct. Anything issued inside Vernon goes to Vernon Municipal Court instead. That city court also handles parking, ordinance, animal-control, zoning, and code-enforcement cases. Charges that sound identical can sit with different custodians. Match the ticket to the right office before searching.
| Ticket names | Record custodian | First route |
|---|---|---|
| Justice Court, Precinct 1 | Wilbarger County JP1 | Call or visit Suite 25 |
| Justice Court, Precinct 2 | Wilbarger County JP2 | GovRec if eligible, or direct contact |
| Vernon Municipal Court | City of Vernon Municipal Court | Call, mail, or visit the city court |
A traffic docket can list the citation or cause number, the charge, the plea, appearance dates, later settings, judgment, and payment status. It is not a felony search or a statewide history. For precinct contacts and a ticket-payment link, the official Wilbarger County Justice page is the place to check.
Which Wilbarger Court Has It
Read the ticket header first. JP1 and JP2 sit in different courthouse suites and keep separate files. The county's online instructions point specifically to JP2. That does not mean every JP1 ticket appears there. If the citation was issued into Vernon Municipal Court, it stays a city matter. That holds no matter that Vernon is the county seat. Do not enter personal details into a portal until you know which court holds the file.

County offices post weekday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Vernon's directory lists 8:00-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-4:30 p.m., with fines and payments taken through 4:30 p.m. A quick call before you drive over can save a wasted trip.
How to Look Up a Traffic Ticket
Work the channels in a sensible order. Wilbarger County links a vendor portal with a documented JP2 search-and-payment workflow. The portal may not cover JP1 or unclear precinct assignments. For copies and anything missing, the court counter and telephone still matter. Vernon publishes no public citation-search portal. Its Municipal Court is the first contact for city tickets. The statewide re:SearchTX system covers eligible integrated public material. The state notes that criminal case records are not included. So it is not a complete traffic search.
- Copy the issuing court, citation or case number, and printed appearance date from the ticket.
- For a JP2 matter, open the county-linked GovRec ticket portal. For JP1, contact that precinct before assuming the same portal applies.
- For a Vernon citation, contact Vernon Municipal Court by phone, mail, or at its counter. The city advises allowing processing time after issuance.
- If the online result is missing or unclear, ask the named court to confirm the case, deadline, current setting, and available public record.
- Use re:SearchTX only as an additional statewide check for eligible material, not as proof that a traffic matter does not exist.
Give staff only the identifiers the official process asks for. A search result never replaces a current confirmation from the court.
Wilbarger JP2 Portal Fields
The county's GovRec instruction sheet walks through the steps: choose Criminal Search, fill in the identifying fields, select JP2, then follow the payment flow. It also advises using Chrome or Edge rather than Safari. That browser tip can matter when you reach the transaction screen.
| Field or control | Type | Research note |
|---|---|---|
| First name | Text | Entered as part of the ticket search |
| Last name | Text | Used with the other identifying fields |
| Date of birth | Date | Sensitive data; enter only on the official linked workflow |
| Court | Selection | County instructions say JP2 |
| Plea | Choice | Guilty or No Contest appears in the documented payment path |
| Pay / Pay Now | Action | Total includes a vendor fee before completion |
Treat the portal as a narrow ticket transaction tool, not a downloadable traffic docket or a criminal-history product. Picking a plea has legal consequences. Read the current form and ask the court about your options before you pay.
Finding Your Traffic Court Date
The appearance date printed on the citation is your first deadline. Later docket settings, though, may come from the court itself. Have a citation number such as [citation number shown on ticket] ready to read off. Staff will ask for it when you call about the setting. Wilbarger publishes no sample-number format. Do not guess at one.
| Citation or case number | The court's identifier; copy it exactly from the ticket or notice. |
|---|---|
| Issuing court | JP1, JP2, or Vernon Municipal Court determines the custodian. |
| Appearance date | The response or appearance date printed on the citation. |
| Later setting | A trial, pretrial, compliance, or other date assigned after the first response. |
| Place and time | The courtroom or counter location and confirmed report time. |
| Status | Whether the setting remains active, was reset, or was resolved. |
Vernon is clear that a phone call is not an appearance, and a continuance is not granted by phone. The city also advises waiting five days after a citation before calling, or at least two business days before appearing in person, so the citation can be processed. Those processing tips do not push back the date printed on the ticket.
Vernon Citation Record Access
Vernon Municipal Court keeps its own traffic records. The official court directory lists its contact details. The city publishes no live public docket lookup. Ask the office directly for the current appearance requirement, a later setting, a filed plea, judgment, or a public copy. Mail and in-person channels are described on the city's procedure pages too. The city's fine page shows the local traffic and ordinance categories this court handles. The listed amounts appear there too.

Those listed amounts are context. They are not the balance on your case. The court should confirm the actual charge, any additions, credits, and the current amount due.
Vernon permits appearances by mail or in person. Juveniles under 17 and minors under 21 facing alcohol charges follow special appearance rules. So check the current appearance rules. Do not assume an online transaction satisfies the required response.
Paying or Contesting a Ticket
Paying and contesting are different roads. Wilbarger's Class C form offers guilty, no contest, not guilty, or a no-plea request for judicial review, along with jury choices and certain alternatives. Vernon's plea guidance breaks it down. Guilty admits the act. No contest does not contest it, and it will almost certainly bring a guilty finding unless an approved option applies. Not guilty leads to trial scheduling. Court staff cannot give legal advice, so weigh the choice carefully.
| Path | What the record may show | Action to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Pay with guilty or no-contest plea | Plea, judgment, amount, and satisfaction events | Confirm the plea effect and total before paying |
| Enter not guilty | Plea followed by a trial or pretrial setting | Use the court's accepted response method and verify the date |
| Ask for judge review | Request and later judicial action | Use the current Wilbarger form and await instructions |
| Request an alternative | Application, conditions, compliance, and result | Confirm eligibility before relying on dismissal |
Do not ignore the appearance date. Vernon warns that no response may lead to a separate Violate Promise to Appear charge, a warrant and fee, a 30 percent collection addition, and a driver-license renewal hold plus fee. Ask the issuing court what applies to the specific ticket.
Wilbarger Traffic Plea Choices
Wilbarger County's Class C plea form asks for the basics first. Case number, docket number, charge, plea, and contact details all go on it. Then come the elections. You can request deferred disposition or a driving safety course. The form lays out jury-related choices too. Since it mixes legal decisions with personal identifiers, get it from the official county source. Return it only through the channel the court accepts.
- Guilty
- A plea admitting the act; the court record proceeds toward judgment and terms.
- No contest
- A nolo contendere plea that does not contest the accusation but can still result in a guilty finding.
- Not guilty
- A plea disputing the charge, followed by scheduling for trial proceedings.
- Deferred disposition
- A court-controlled period with eligibility rules and conditions that may result in dismissal.
- Driving safety course
- A requested option with statutory and local eligibility requirements, court approval, a course, and completion records.
A button on a portal decides nothing. It cannot spell out every consequence or confirm you qualify. What does count is the plea you file, along with the judge's orders, since both become part of the traffic court record.
Court Traffic Record vs Driver Record
Two offices keep two separate files. The traffic court holds the case record built from the citation. The Texas Department of Public Safety keeps the state driving record. A court may want a certified DPS record before granting a driving-safety-course request. That paper never substitutes for the court docket itself.
| Point | Traffic court record | Driver record |
|---|---|---|
| Custodian | JP1, JP2, or Vernon Municipal Court | Texas Department of Public Safety |
| Purpose here | Shows the citation case, settings, plea, orders, and result | May be a required supporting document for an approved course option |
| How to request | Contact the issuing court or use its documented portal | Use the state's official DPS record process |
| Not interchangeable because | It is the court's procedural file | It is maintained by the licensing agency |
This page deals with the court file behind a citation and nothing else. It does not use traffic records to judge a person or predict any private decision.
Wilbarger Deferred Disposition
The county's current deferred-disposition request asks pointed questions. Did you hold a valid license? Were workers present in a work zone? Was there an accident, a school bus, a crossing guard? The form also covers non-CDL status, alleged speed, and any recent deferrals. It requires a no-contest plea plus a jury waiver, sets out payment timing, and runs a 90-day period. Those are application terms only. The judge still decides.
Vernon runs its own program. The city sets the deferred period at no fewer than 90 and no more than 180 days, with costs plus a special-expense fee or cash bond. Construction-zone offenses involving workers and commercial-license matters are excluded, and a one-year limitation applies. Same name, different rules in the county and the city.
If the court grants the request, the docket will show each piece separately: the plea, the deferral order, compliance filings, and the final disposition. Keep copies of every submission. Confirm the final result was actually entered, because time passing alone never closes a case.
Wilbarger Driving Safety Requests
The county driving-safety-course form starts by ruling people out. Certain nonmoving offenses, high-speed allegations, serious offenses, school-bus matters, qualifying accidents, work zones, and CDL situations all face exclusions. If you clear that screen, the form demands a no-contest plea, a jury waiver, license or qualifying military proof, proof of financial responsibility, and the stated court amount. Approval comes first. Completion requirements follow.
Later the court expects the course certificate, an affidavit about course history, and a certified Type 3A DPS record within 90 days. Vernon publishes a separate city process. It generally wants a written guilty or no-contest plea, license copy, proof of financial responsibility, costs, and an administrative fee within 10 calendar days, with completion materials due within 90 days after approval.
Follow the process of the court printed on your citation. A county form never goes to Vernon. A city instruction does not govern JP1 or JP2.
Fees and Copies
Traffic costs swing with the charge, the court, the plea, any additions, and any approved option. No single countywide copy-fee schedule covers every traffic file. Ask the clerk of the court for a current itemized total. Keep two numbers straight. One is the balance owed in the case. The other is the price of a plain or certified copy of the court record.
| Item | Published amount or rule |
|---|---|
| Wilbarger County driving-safety-course request | $146 court amount; course and DPS record costs are separate |
| JP2 GovRec transaction | Displayed amount plus vendor fee; review before accepting |
| Vernon speeding example | Starts at $150 plus $10 per 5 mph over; school-zone increment is $25 |
| Vernon no-liability-insurance example | $320 |
| Vernon expired-registration example | $160 |
| Plain or certified traffic-record copy | Confirm current page, certification, delivery, and retrieval charges with the court |
Vernon's published schedule offers examples, not a quote for your situation. For paying, the city's payment page accepts major cards. It also takes cashier's checks, money orders, and cash under stated conditions. A cashier's check or money order must cover the full amount. It must also identify the citation. A warrant-status matter takes no check. Check the record and the current total before you send money.
Wilbarger Traffic Record Privacy
Portals and forms ask for a lot. Expect birth date, license data, citation number, address, and sometimes financial information. The court needs those fields to identify and process the case. That need is not permission to republish anything. Enter sensitive details only in the official workflow. Never send more by ordinary email.
Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 21c identifies sensitive data that must be omitted or redacted in covered filings, including driver-license numbers, birth dates, financial-account data, home addresses, and minors' names. Ask the traffic court for the public redacted copy.
A blank online result can mean many things. Wrong court, slow processing, a changed case style, restricted material, or a portal with limited scope. It does not prove the citation vanished. It does not mean no response is due. Confirm the Wilbarger County traffic record with the court named on the citation.
